The program was developed by considering the two architects’ choices and requirements, as well as the family’s requirements as a whole. Being a house makeover project, the challenge was to keep the old structural members intact and yet to set a new layout which is more efficient and has better space quality than the previous one. The ground floor accommodates the architects’ design studio along with parking facilities. The first and second floors have all the needed spaces with total three master bedrooms. On the first floor, a large opening is provided on the northern side to create a living room extension and to make a connection with outdoor wooden deck, while the second floor has skylights to allow natural light inside the house. Natural stone (Kota Stone) has been used for flooring as well as stairs to give a serene effect. The way slab of stairs has been kept as exposed concrete and a few elemental walls have been designed with exposed brick to suit the architect’s choice of rustic and textured surfaces which create the play of light.
